Google’s new launch (not very new) –www.blackle.com – is quite an unusual site. In functionality it is nothing other than Google search engine. The difference comes in the colour of the pages of the search result. Blackle is black Google search engine. The site proclaims that the black colour of the background pages consume less power than a white or any other colour page. The site states that on an average it saves energy of 113,179.573 watts hours. There are some limitations to it i.e. saving of power is limited only to computers with CRT screens. Blackle site opening on Computers with LCD screens won’t save any power. Most of the desktops today don’t use CRTs and note books use only LCDs.That way not a lot of energy is saved but even a very little amount counts.
